High Commission-Issued Letters and NOCs

To obtain a Letter of Identification or a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for purposes such as study, marriage, burial, or repatriation:

1. An application letter to the Head of Mission introducing the applicant and explaining the request
2. A copy of the data page of the international passport
3. Two recent passport-size photographs
4. In case of burial or repatriation, a consent letter from a family member of the deceased
5. A copy of the valid international passport of a family member(s)
6. For student-related requests, official evidence or documentation from the requesting institution
7. Payment receipt
8. Any other additional requirement by the Nigerian High Commission

Kindly Note: The final decision regarding whether to repatriate the remains or proceed with local burial lies solely with the legal heirs of the deceased. The role of the High Commission is limited to issuing a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the final arrangements of the remains, upon receipt of written consent from the Next of Kin.

REQUIREMENT FOR HUMAN REMAINS

The following documents are required by the Mission for the issuance of a Letter of Repatriation of Human Remains of a Deceased Nigerian:

1. Waiver for the Repatriation of Human Remains issued by the Port Health Services, Federal Ministry of Health at Abuja, Nigeria
2. An application letter signed by the individual requesting the repatriation letter (applicant) from the High Commission. The letter must state the full name of the deceased, cause of death, date of death, intended date of repatriation, relationship between the applicant and the deceased, address of the applicant, and any other relevant details
3. A copy of the data page of the Nigerian passport of the applicant
4. A copy of the data page of the Nigerian passport of the Deceased
5. Death Certificate issued by the Host Authority
6. Burial Order issued by the Host Authority
7. Notice of death/stillbirth issued by the Host Authority
8. Embalming certificate issued by the relevant company
9. Non-Contagious Disease/Non-Infectious Certificate issued by the relevant company
10. Affidavit/Declaration signed by the applicant
11. Any other relevant document
