To apply for a Nigerian passport:
- Visit the OIS portal and complete your registration (or log in if you are already registered)
- Click on the menu, select 'Passport Application', and follow the on screen instructions to apply for the appropriate passport category.
- Print the completed application form and the payment slip generated by the portal.
- Schedule an appointment with the High Commission online, preferably on a Tuesday or Thursday (designated consular days).
- Bring along the printed application form and payment slip on the day of your appointment.
- Appear in person for biometric capture and any other required verification procedures.
- Return to the High Commission for collection on the date communicated to you.
Emergency Travel Certificate (ETC)
The Emergency Travel Certificate (ETC) is a one way travel document issued by the High Commission of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to Nigerian citizens who have lost their passports or whose passports are expired. It is intended solely for travel back to Nigeria and is valid for a single entry.
ELIGIBILITY
This service is available to :
- Nigerian citizens in India, Nepal, Sri Lanka, or Bangladesh
- Individuals who can provide verifiable proof of Nigerian nationality
HOW TO APPLY
- Visit the Nigerian High Commission in New Delhi on designated consular days (Tuesdays and Thursdays), except on public holidays.
- Please bring along the required documents listed below.
- Further instructions will be provided by the Immigration Section upon arrival.
REQUIRED DOCUMENTS
An application letter to the Head of Mission introducing the applicant and explaining the request
- A completed application form
- Two recent passport size photographs
- Proof of Nigerian citizenship
- Police report (if applicable)
- Receipt of payment
- Any other additional requirements by the High Commission
ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS FOR MINORS
1. Consent letter from legal guardian
2. Consent letter from the mother (in case the applicant is an infant)
3. Passport copy of the parents/legal guardian
